SINGAPORE'S CIRCUIT BREAKER

From April to June 2020, Singapore entered its COVID-19 Circuit Breaker, issuing a nation-wide stay-at-home order to prevent spread of the virus. Like many other places in the world, roads and streets were empty, office buildings were deserted and tourism was non-existent. Whilst on a car ride with my family, camera at hand in the passenger's seat, I was astounded by the apocalyptic streets of my home. Unable to resist photographing this truly unprecedented time, I stepped out of my house on walks, taking photographs while socially distant from others. Though Singapore's cases have greatly decreased because of the crucial Circuit Breaker, the financial hit taken by our local businesses and industries was severe. These pictures aim to document the reality of life during this historic time, however, also aim to convey the feelings of desolation, hopelessness and hardship felt by thousands during this period.
