
Clare Ong is a 21-year-old freelance photographer and student filmmaker. She is currently studying Film, Journalism and Marine Science at Boston University.
Clare has been a photographer for 6 years and was the Photo Editor for the Daily Free Press in the Fall of 2022. She has photographed Joe Biden's Cancer Moonshot speech in Boston, Maura Healey winning the election for Governor of Massachusetts, protests reacting to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Her documentary, Love on a Leash (2022), won first place in the video category of the Boston Press Photographer's Association 2022 College Contest.
Clare received a nomination for Best Production Designer in Indie Short Fest's January selection for her work in the social impact fiction film, At What Cost (2023), which tackles the Asian-American experience and themes of family, art and grief.
Being an international student from Singapore, Clare brings a unique, global perspective to everything she does. She aims to give a voice to underrepresented communities through her photography and film work.
In Singapore, Clare has interned as an Assistant Producer and Digital Content Intern at Ochre Pictures, an award-winning Singaporean film and television production company. She was a photography and videography intern at The Smart Local, one of the largest online media publications in Singapore.
At Boston University, Clare is a member of the BU chapter of the National Press Photographer's Association (NPPA) as well as a member of Delta Kappa Alpha, a national gender-inclusive professional film fraternity.
Clare's work has been published in the Daily Free Press, Brookline.News, and Sampan.
